NZ’s top spas share ways to warm up clients this winter

From LED light therapy and tropical oils to hot springs, hot stone massage and even a hot toddy.

We asked some of New Zealand’s top day spas to tell us what special treatments they’re currently running to banish their client’s winter blues.

Spa at the Pullman – ‘Muscle Ease Lemongrass & Ginger Retreat’
A truly warming, invigorating and muscle relieving 60-minute experience. Begin this treatment with a full body exfoliation using sea salt and lemongrass and ginger oils to revive tired skin and muscles. The experience will then be completed with a back, neck and shoulder massage using almond oil infused with lemongrass and ginger which will absorb deep into the muscles to provide a warming, tension releasing effect for both your body and mind. After your treatment you can enjoy a lemongrass and ginger herbal tea to cleanse you from the inside out. $140, 60 minutes.

Skinography – ‘The Radiance Experience’
This mid-winter radiance boosting experience begins with dry body brushing to stimulate the lymphatic flow, increasing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the skin. The muscles are then expertly manipulated with warm, deliciously nourishing oil, to evoke a deep sense of relaxation, ending with a Light healing session to bring that glow back. Sip on a hot fresh lemon, ginger and honey tea afterwards to bring back inner balance. $199, 90 minutes.

Polynesian Spa – ‘Signature Aix Therapy’
Spend time in the hot mineral pools (entry included in price) then start with a dry full body polish exfoliation (choose from Pure Source Mud Polish, Skin Deep Manuka Honey and Walnut Body Polish, Pure Fiji Mango or Coconut Sugar Scrub or Veritè Organic NZ Coconut & Lime Flower Body Polish), before multiple jets of warm water stream across your body for a full body coconut oil relaxation massage. Aix is a hydrotherapy spa treatment, introduced to Rotorua in 1903. The Retreat at Polynesian Spa has specialised Aix therapy rooms with vichy showers and Italian vichy beds. $145, 40 minutes / $179, 60 minutes.

The Facialist – ‘Light Lounge’
LED light therapy works to stimulate skin’s natural production of collagen, helping to plump fine lines over time. LightStim works at such a deep level to revitalise the skin and heal many skin conditions. The result is a plumper, smoother and more radiant skin. Enjoy the convenience of this express treatment and be in and out within 30 minutes with plump, radiant skin and a bounce in your step. Introductory offer of 3 treatments, $99 / single session, $55.
